Ag Worker Justice Conference draws on 60 years of civil rights advocacy to address today’s challenges

Sold-out event hosted by CRLA in Fresno offers specialized training for agricultural worker advocates.

August 18, 2026 – Fresno, CA – California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA) will welcome agricultural workers’ rights advocates from across California for the organization’s inaugural Ag Worker Justice Conference in Fresno on August 18 and 19.

Conference sessions will offer practical training on a wide range of labor and employment law topics affecting agricultural workers, including disability and pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, language access, H-2A visas, and cannabis. Oliver A. Rosales, professor of history at Bakersfield College and author of Civil Rights in Bakersfield: Segregation and Multiracial Activism in the Central Valley, will deliver a keynote address to open the event.

“CRLA has been advocating alongside farmworkers for 60 years, and that advocacy has far-reaching impact on other low-wage workers in our state and nation,” said Anali Cortez Bulosan, CRLA Agricultural Worker Justice Program Director. “With this conference, we’re bringing together legal advocates, community-based organizations, organizers, and other partners to turn lessons from that history into skills and tools that address challenges agricultural workers are facing now.”

Tickets for the 2026 Ag Worker Justice Conference are sold out. Interested community members can contact events@crla.org to be added to the wait list and receive notifications about upcoming events, including CRLA’s 2027 Ag Worker Justice Conference.
