Community Worker - RJU

Reporting to the Directing Attorney, the Community Worker will perform initial screenings for eligibility, interviews to determine the nature of the legal problem/s and to identify the type of legal assistance being sought by the applicants.

Legal Secretary - AWP

The Legal Secretary (LS) manages communications, correspondence, typing legal documents, filing, travel, calendar, and general organizational matters within the Agricultural Worker Program. Also responsible for managing legal expenditures; minimal coordination of litigation with outside counsel; and maintaining/organizing records of litigated and transaction matters.

Community Worker - SOS

Reporting to the Managing Attorney, the Community Worker will perform initial screenings for eligibility, interviews to determine the nature of the legal problem/s and to identify the type of legal assistance being sought by the applicants. Other similar tasks may be assigned by the Managing Attorney in order to provide support to California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. offices and programs statewide. Some travel may be required to CRLA offices listed in the “Available Locations” description above.

Staff Attorney - Indigenous Program

Reporting to the Indigenous Program Legal Director, the Staff Attorney provides comprehensive legal services to eligible clients in CRLA’s priority areas of housing, employment, public benefits, education, and leadership development, with a focus on serving Indigenous Latin American communities in accordance with CRLA program guidelines, the ABA Standards for Providers of Civil Legal Services and the Code of Professional Responsibility. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in serving the target populations and an enthusiasm for creative advocacy.

Staff Attorney - Rural Justice Unit

Reporting to the Directing Attorney, the Staff Attorney provides comprehensive legal services to eligible clients in CRLA priority areas in accordance with CRLA program guidelines, the ABA Standards for Providers of Civil Legal Services, and the Code of Professional Responsibility.

Staff Attorney - LGBTQ+ Program

The LGBTQ+ Program Staff Attorney will help increase access to justice for low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people in rural California, including LGBTQ+ agricultural workers and immigrants. CRLA regularly represents LGBTQ+ clients in a variety of types of legal cases, including immigration, education and employment discrimination, access to gender-affirming care, as well as name and gender marker correction petitions.
