CRLA Terms of Service for SMS Communications

1. Consent for SMS Communication

By opting into our SMS service, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Information obtained during the SMS consent process will not be shared with third parties
  • You must provide consent before receiving any SMS communications

2. Types of SMS Communications

After providing consent, you may receive text messages related to: Scheduling, appointment reminders, CRLA outreach events, general information, CRLA intake, referrals, legal information, and/or general legal questions. 

3. Standard Messaging Disclosures

3.1. Message and Data Rates

  • Standard message and data rates may apply
  • Users are responsible for any charges incurred from their carriers
  • Carrier fees may vary based on:
    • Geographic location
    • Type of messaging (promotional, transactional, or one-time passwords)
    • Domestic or international transmission


3.2. Message Frequency

  • Our SMS message frequency ranges from 5 to 100 text messages daily across the organization and across all users
  • Individual message frequency may vary based on user interaction and service needs
  • Individual members can opt out of SMS messaging at any time (see below)
     

3.3. Opt-In Process

  • Customers must explicitly opt-in during verbal communication
  • Standard opt-in confirmation: "Do you agree to receive texts from CRLA? Message Frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP for immediate assistance, text STOP to opt-out." 
  • No SMS communication will be initiated without prior consent

3.4. Opt-Out Instructions

  • Text "STOP" to opt-out at any time
  • Upon opting out, you will receive no further SMS communications
  • Text "START" to opt back in
  • For assistance, text "HELP" or visit our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service URLs

4. Privacy and Data Protection

4.1. Privacy Commitment

  • Your privacy is our top priority
  • Full details available in our Privacy Policy at https://crla.org/privacy-policy
  • Consent to SMS services includes acceptance of our data practices

4.2. Data Usage

  • Information collected through SMS services will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes
  • We maintain appropriate security measures to protect your information

4.3 Information Sharing

SMS opt-in and phone numbers collected for SMS purposes will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. 

5. Donations

CRLA does currently solicit or receive donations via SMS. Any future donation campaigns will:

  • Be clearly stated
  • Require explicit user consent
  • Follow applicable regulations and guidelines
