Volunteer
Volunteer with California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA)
Tens of thousands of Californians priced out of private legal representation contact us for legal services every year. Volunteers provide crucial expertise and capacity that enable us to provide access to justice at no charge.
We welcome volunteer attorneys, law students, law school graduates, paralegals, social workers, and other professionals.
Are you an attorney interested in doing Pro Bono work?
CRLA offers private sector attorneys a wide variety of pro bono opportunities, ranging from one-day clinics to multi-year cases across our different community-led advocacy priorities, including housing, employment, health, education, immigration, language justice, reentry, and environmental justice as well as with the LGBTQ+, Indigenous, Agricultural Worker, and Unincorporated Communities Justice Programs.
Prior experience is not required for many opportunities, as CRLA offers training and guidance for all clinics and most cases.
Our current pro bono opportunities are listed on the California Pro Bono Portal and Paladin—you can express interest in one of the specific needs identified already.
If none of those are a good fit, please contact our Pro Bono team at probonosupport@crla.org or (510) 267-0762 to discuss current opportunities that could fit your pro bono goals.
Not an attorney but still want to volunteer?
CRLA welcomes anyone interested in contributing to their community and learning more about rural legal services. Please contact the CRLA Rural Justice Center nearest you about volunteer opportunities.
