CRLA and Monterey County Board of Supervisors Commemorate Supreme Court victory ending use of “El Cortito” 50 years ago

CRLA commemorated the Supreme Court victory that banned the use of “El Cortito” 50 years ago, a short-handled hoe that forced agricultural workers to stoop over all day long for decades in the Salinas Valley – a position that led to debilitating, permanent back injuries. This was a victory on many fronts – agricultural workers’ health, the farmworker rights movement, and a critical moment in CRLA’s legal advocacy and community lawyering.

Farmworkers Who Picked Driscoll’s Strawberries in Oxnard File Suit Alleging Stolen Wages

VENTURA, CA (April 17, 2023) — Seventeen farmworkers filed a lawsuit today in the Ventura County Superior Court of California, alleging that they were not fully paid for picking Driscoll’s strawberries during the 2022 harvesting season. A press conference will be held outside the Ventura County Superior Court, 800 S Victoria Ave, Ventura, CA 93009 on April 19, 2023 at 4:00pm.
